HMS Construction President Michael High to Present at Underground Construction Technology 2003 Conference
HMS President, Michael High, will be presenting at the 2003 Underground Construction Technology conference, held in Houston, Texas from January 14-16. He will be presenting on January 14th at 3:50p.m. as part of the Track IV-A, whose focus will be Sewer/Water Construction & Rehabilitation - Successful Sewer, Water HDD Case Studies.
The subject of his presentation will be as follows:
Part 1: Sewer Case Study - This project involved installing, via a 2,000-ft. directional drill, a HDPE force sewer main under the navigable waters of Pearl Harbor from the Naval Shipyard to Ford Island. The bore had about 500 ft. of land at the start before transitioning for 1,000 ft. under the ship channel and finishing through 500 ft. of land on Ford Island. Special measures were taken not to disturb or destroy historical landmarks.
Part 2: Water Case Study - A 28-in. water main
was installed via HDD with a 55% exit angle under the interstate in Carlsbad, CA. Despite difficult parameters, HDD proved a cost effective and successful method of accomplishing the project.
